Would it be as successful and have the same impact as it did when it was released in the late 1990s?

Would people buy into it or would they not?

It would be successful because its a great TV show. As successful? Probably not because there have been dozens of Anti-hero type tv shows released in the last 20 years. Wire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Boardwalk Empire, etc. Sopranos was a revolutionary concept when it came out because there had never been anything else like it.

I think that it would be just as successful,if not more.

Excellent script writing,spot-on casting, great story and character arcs, superb directing, and so much more.
These attributes transcend the chronology of the show.

IMHO,the one thing I will submit as an "X" factor, is that,if was a Netflix production,it would shatter the all-time viewership record for a series.

Just my two cents.

Name me the actors you would cast to play the main roles if it came out today.

I wonder who would play Tony and Paulie? You could easily still cast Michael Imperioli in a role for the series since he's still available & active in Hollywood.

Would he work out playing the role of Paulie in 2025? I think he would do a good job. Would the Paulie character even exist if they did it again? These are all hypothetical questions obviously that may never have an answer. Therefor we can be creative and share our own scenarios of how the show would be if released today.

Great topic RushStreet!

Maybe a bit too old,but I wouldn't mind seeing what Chazz Palmentieri could bring to the role of Tony.

As far as Paulie,Tom Hardy might be a good pick. I think he could pull off the whole psycho tapestry that we've come to love from Walnuts.

And for a little twist, how about Imperioli as Silvio ?

C'mon gang,let's have some fun !

It would definitely still do well. It was well shot and I feel like it started some trends in storytelling on premier television. Production and soundtrack were top notch.
