Captbony, there are still a few guys left in the neighborhood who grew up with Jimmy, who are still alive. But they're old men, and certainly haven't been "involved" for many decades already.

Also, you gotta remember that although Jimmy was a bookmaker, shylock, ran dice games, and engaged in other things, essentially, his base strength was always the policy-numbers racket. He ran one of the largest policy businesses in the entire country. Once NYS legalized that business, the 'magic' was gone. And right along with it, the awesome financial 'strength' that handling that kind of cash (which LE estimated was anywhere from $50-$150 million dollars gross each year) afforded Napoli.

....Like everything else in life, things changed for him.
