A Dutch national of Turkish descent was arrested on Thursday at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca.
He was arrested on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by the Dutch judiciary for alleged involvement in arms trafficking.

The man arrived on a flight from Istanbul and was immediately checked against the Interpol database. This showed that he was wanted internationally for possession and trafficking of firearms. The Moroccan authorities have placed him in custody pending his possible extradition to the Netherlands.

The Netherlands has been informed of the arrest and must now provide the extradition file. The arrest is part of the international cooperation against cross-border crime, in which Moroccan security services actively track down wanted persons.
