AGRIGENTO – Blitz in Agrigento. The Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit, under the command of Colonel Vincenzo Bulla, carried out a new operation this morning against the mafia clans of Villaseta and Porto Empedocle. The operation represents the natural development of the twenty-four arrests made less than a month ago. There are fifty-one suspects. Thirty-six of them have been ordered to be held in prison, while another fifteen have been ordered to be held in house arrest.

The provision is signed by the investigating judge of the Palermo court, Antonella Consiglio, at the request of the deputy prosecutor Sergio Demontis and the substitutes Claudio Camilleri, Giorgia Righi and Luisa Bettiol. The charges – in various capacities – are mafia-style criminal association, criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, extortion, possession of weapons. Many of the suspects are already in prison because they were reached, just three weeks ago, by a precautionary measure.

Villaseta supplied drugs to Palermo gangs: clan leaders arrested (again)
In the major operation against the mafia mandamenti of Palermo, the handcuffs were snapped on (again) the bosses of the Villaseta gang

Drugs from Villaseta reached the heart of Palermo. An almost singular fact that would testify to the leading role assumed by the Agrigento clans in the field of drug trafficking. This is what emerges from the maxi anti-mafia operation launched against Palermo's Cosa Nostra . Four mandamenti dismantled, 181 people arrested. Among these - recipients of an arrest warrant - there are also the leaders of the Villaseta clan. These are Pietro Capraro, 39 years old, considered the boss of the local family; Gaetano Licata, 41 years old, considered Capraro's lieutenant; Gabriele Minio, 36 years old, believed to be affiliated with the clan. All had been arrested in recent weeks by the Agrigento carabinieri as part of the operation against the Porto Empedocle/Villaseta clans.

Today comes a new arrest warrant in the maxi investigation of the Palermo District Anti-Mafia Directorate. According to what emerges from the investigations, coordinated by the prosecutor Maurizio De Lucia and the deputy Marzia Sabella, the leaders of the Villaseta clan would have had constant relationships and discussions with members of the San Lorenzo mafia mandamento , now led by the Serio brothers, lieutenants of the boss Salvatore Lo Piccolo. Capraro, Licata and Minio are accused - specifically - of having sold several batches of drugs, for a total amount of 384 thousand euros, to the bosses of the San Lorenzo/Tommaso Natale mafia mandamento: the brothers Domenico and Nunzio Serio, Francesco Stagno and Mario Ferrazzano.
