French record: 10,000 kilos of cocaine seized in Dunkirk
Nearly 10 tons of cocaine were seized in the port of Dunkirk last weekend, French media reported on Tuesday. Never before has so much cocaine been seized by the authorities in France. The drugs were hidden in a container.
The French news agency AFP reports that no one has been arrested.
In France, the average wholesale price for a kilo of cocaine is around 30,000 euros. A pack of one gram of cocaine costs around 60 euros in France, slightly more than in the Netherlands, AFP writes.
According to the French Minister of the Interior, it appears that more cocaine has been imported into Europe via France in the past year.
In 2024, a total of 53.5 tons of cocaine was seized by the French authorities, which is more than in the Netherlands.
In 2024, a total of almost 38,000 kilos of cocaine were seized in the Netherlands. This was a significant decrease compared to 2023, when almost 60,000 kilos were seized.
