NOVOCAINE

Nate (Jack Quaid) is an assistant manager at San Diego Trust Credit Union and he has a secret: he can't feel any pain due to an autoimmune disorder he has. After a one-night stand with teller Sherry (Amber Midthunder), who at times positively pushes him out of his boundaries, Nate is smitten. However, when their credit union is robbed the next day (on Christmas Eve no less) and Sherry is taken as a hostage, Nick will stop at nothing to save her. I may be in the minority here but I'm going to go ahead and say it: Jack Quaid has done nothing for me with his recent films (SCREAM, COMPANION, and now this). I don't know what it is about him but he's beginning to get a bad reputation from me where if I see him advertised for films going forward, I can already tell I won't like it. And this time around, it's not actually his fault (while the other 2 films I do partially blame him for). He's more likeable here but judging from the trailer, I was disappointed to learn there aren't as many laughs or action outside of what's already shown. Amber Midthunder unfortunately isn't given much to work with here either as outside of the date she goes on with Nate, she's buried for the rest of the movie. What should have been a badass action film in the vein of a CRANK, sadly can't numb the pain of this film. 6/10
