An Israeli Air Force fighter jet has struck the launcher from which two rockets were fired earlier on Friday toward the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement. Hamas has positioned the launcher near a shelter in the Al-Farkan area in northern Gaza, the statement added.
According to the army, prior to the strike, numerous measures were taken to minimize the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence.
Osama Tabash, Hamas' military intelligence chief in southern Gaza, was killed on Thursday, the IDF and the Shin Bet security service said in a joint statement.
Hamas said it is still discussing US envoy Witkoff's proposal and various other ideas, with the aim of reaching a deal.
