Former professional boxer (40) from Almere target of assassination attempts, also explosion at boxing school (UPDATE)
A 40-year-old owner of a boxing school on Bakkenzuigerstraat in Almere has been the target of assassination attempts twice in a short period of time. He was shot on both December 24, 2024 and January 6 of this year. An explosive also went off at his boxing school. It concerns owner and ex-boxer Suriel Hooker from Almere.

On Christmas Eve 2024, H. was shot at around 22:15 on Bakkenzuigerstraat. When he left his building, a darkly dressed man walked towards him. He started shooting at the boxing school owner from about 15 meters away. The intended victim managed to run away. He remained unharmed. This was reported by the TV program Opsporing Verzocht , which paid attention to the case on Tuesday evening.

Opel Corsa
The shooter fled in a waiting gray Opel Corsa with a black roof. That car was later seen in Amsterdam. The police want to know who the shooter is and who was driving the Opel Corsa in Almere. They may have a link with the capital.

New attempt
On Monday, January 6 at 10:30 p.m., the boxing gym owner came under fire again . The shooter emerged from the bushes across from the gym and appeared to stumble as he pulled the trigger. The 40-year-old target was able to get into his car quickly enough and get away.

More than a week later, the police arrested a 17-year-old suspect from Lelystad for the attempted assassination on January 6.

Explosion
In the night of 15 to 16 January, an explosive was detonated at the boxing school on Bakkenzuigerstraat. The building was severely damaged by the resulting fire. No one was present at the time. No one has been arrested for the explosion.

Police would like to know why someone would target the ex-boxer and his boxing school.
