In the 1950s, the American and German armies, among others, tested various psychoactive substances including MDMA. Dr. Albert van Schoor described in his 1952 lab journal how MDMA killed 6 flies after 30 minutes. In 1959, Dr. Fruhstorfer conducted research into psychostimulants . One of the substances he worked with, H671, turned out to be MDMA. The first scientific article on MDMA appeared in 1960. It describes, among other things, its synthesis. It is written in Polish and virtually unknown. In 1978, Alexander Shulgin first described the psychotropic effects of MDMA in humans.

This week's Europol report !

The Netherlands remains the main source region of MDMA trafficking flows worldwide, although Germany, Bulgaria and Belgium appear to be emerging as distribution hubs for MDMA to both European and external markets. A significant part of the MDMA produced in the Netherlands may be intended for more profitable overseas markets. Air and maritime transport appear to be the main methods used to traffic MDMA from Europe to external markets.
