Haha I hate the Yankess with an absolute never ending passion, but people need to calm down about the torpedo bats. So what happened is that the Yankees tested one of their hitters and found that all his home runs came off the "label" of the bat. So, they made a fully legal modification to maximize his performance. Relax! It's not gonna turn the game on its head lol. This is not just a Yankee thing anymore. Other teams have picked up on this too.

This is nothing new. The game is constantly evolving. Just a couple of years ago hitters started working a bat with a meaty "puck" at the base. Years before that it was the axe handle bat.
