Drug trafficking and links with the mafia: 45 arrests, also in Brescia
The narcotics – imported from South America, Morocco and Holland – were distributed from Brescia to all of Italy. Investigations by the State Police, with the coordination of the Brescia District Anti-Mafia Directorate, on two criminal associations
International drug trafficking and close ties to mafia-type criminal organizations. With this hypothesis, the State Police, with the coordination of the Brescia District Anti-Mafia Directorate, has been executing 45 precautionary custody measures since the early hours of the morning, including 30 in prison, 12 under house arrest and 3 with an obligation to remain in residence against Italian, Albanian and North African citizens.
These are two distinct criminal groups: the first group, which gravitated mainly in the province of Brescia, was able to import large quantities of drugs from Colombia through a Colombian woman who lives in the Brescia area and who acted as an intermediary thanks to her contacts with the "Gulf clan". The group also imported hashish from Morocco. The second organization, on the other hand, is made up of individuals related to the 'Ndrangheta families Nirta and Strangio di San Luca, as well as Albanian citizens, who allegedly created a drug storage center in Gussago, destined for distribution throughout Italy. This second group also has relationships with other mafia organizations in Calabria, Sicily and Puglia.
"The measures, in addition to numerous searches, were issued against Italian, Albanian and North African citizens residing in the provinces of Brescia, Reggio Calabria, Catanzaro, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Milan, Foggia, Cosenza, Ragusa, Trapani, Mantua, Cremona, Pavia, Chieti, Bolzano and Biella, as part of an investigation into two criminal associations aimed at trafficking narcotics imported from South America, Morocco and Holland and distributed from the province of Brescia throughout the country. The second association is characterized by strong ties with members of the mafia organizations 'Ndrangheta, Cosa Nostra, Camorra, Stidda and Sacra Corona Unita," the police wrote in a statement.
