CATANZARO The Catanzaro DDA has requested over 150 years of prison for the 22 defendants who chose the abbreviated procedure in the trial resulting from the Scolacium investigation. The operation, which began in February 2024, led to the arrest of 22 people, for a total of 27 suspects, linked to the Bruno and Catarisano clans operating in the Catanzaro area, particularly in the areas of Girifalco, Borgia and Vallefiorita. According to the prosecution, the two clans would have managed the territory through weapons and extortion, with interests in the forestry sector, wind turbines and beach facilities. At the top of the organization attributable to the Catarisanos are said to be Pietro Abbruzzo and Massimo Citraro , accused of criminal association together with Bruno Abbruzzo, Antonio Paradiso, Sandro Ielapi, Vincenzo Tolone and Giuseppe Cristofano.
