'Sierra Leone silences local journalists over Bolle Jos connection'
The government of Sierra Leone is actively bribing and threatening local journalists to prevent publication of the connection with drug criminal Jos Leijdekkers (33). This is stated by several journalists in hiding from Sierra Leone in interviews with De Telegraaf.

Critically Endangered
Government officials are said to be offering local reporters sums of up to 5,000 euros. Journalists who refuse the hush money are said to be seriously threatened. The amounts are unprecedentedly high by African standards, which according to journalists indicates how essential it is for the government in Sierra Leone to keep quiet about Bolle Jos.

De Telegraaf writes that in recent weeks it has had contact several times abroad with reporters in hiding, who say they are terrified and fear for their own lives and those of their families.

Protected
The Netherlands' most wanted drug criminal Bolle Jos is said to have been in Sierra Leone under various false names since 2022. He has bought his way into high-ranking officials in the West African country and enjoys protection from the president there. He is also said to be in a relationship with the president's daughter, who is said to be pregnant by him.

Several videos of Leijdekkers have surfaced showing him in Sierra Leone.

Ex-wife
According to De Telegraaf, Leijdekkers has now also been followed by his ex-wife Hanane. The woman wants Leijdekkers to return their son, who has been living illegally with his father in Sierra Leone since 2022. Leijdekkers has three young children with his ex; two sons and a daughter.

Convictions
Leijdekkers is on the National Wanted List and the EU Most Wanted List. On June 25, 2024, he was sentenced in absentia by the Rotterdam District Court to 24 years in prison for six drug transports totaling almost 7,000 kilos of cocaine and ordering a murder.

A Belgian court sentenced him to ten years in prison in September 2024 for drug trafficking and assault.
