would it be fair to say that cooney is now and likely has been a member of d'adamos clan/cell since around 2021? if the WEG is no more which seems to be the case.

Don’t know if its mob related, but a guy just got shot this morning in Laval. He’s not dead.
I think his family name is italian.

https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2...le-dans-un-quartier-residentiel-de-laval

Police officers from the City of Laval Police Service were dispatched to the site, on Rue du Cap-Éternité, just before 9 a.m.

According to our information, the person shot is Guido Muzzo, a 49-year-old man.

The alleged victim was arrested in March 2024 by the Montreal police. He had been accused of carrying a concealed weapon, of unauthorized possession of a firearm. According to the available information, it was either a prohibited firearm or a restricted authorization weapon with ammunition.

https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/...vm-sert-un-americano-amer-a-la-mafia.php

The Antigang unit of the Montreal police arrested on Wednesday morning several members of a drug trafficking cell affiliated with the mafia that operated from the borough of LaSalle, as part of a long-term investigation called Projeto Americano.

The alleged head of the network, Giuseppe Arcoraci, a 57-year-old restaurateur, was shot out of bed by the police in the early morning. Known by the nickname "Big Joe", Arcoraci would be very influential in LaSalle. According to our information, his trafficker cell is under the authority of the mafioso Pietro D'Adamo, considered the armed arm of the Sicilian clan of the Montreal mafia. However, D'Adamo is not accused of anything in this case.

More than $2 million and several dozen kilos of cocaine seized from a mafia boss

Several dozen kilos of cocaine and more than $2 million in cash were reportedly seized Tuesday morning in Montreal from one of the long-time collaborators of an influential mafia boss.

The police arrived in the morning at the home of Giuseppe Arcoraci, a stone's throw from Cavelier-De LaSalle secondary school, in the district of the same name.

Inside, the police got their hands on a huge sum of money, an impressive quantity of cocaine, as well as around ten prohibited weapons.

According to our sources, more than 2 million dollars were found, as well as “several dozen” kilos of cocaine.

Arcoraci, 58, was not arrested. This would be a search during an investigation as part of the Americano project, carried out by the Antigang section of the SPVM. A first phase of this investigation project had already taken place a few weeks ago and had led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics.

Arcoraci would not only work with the Italian mafia; authorities also suspect him of having links to Irish organized crime.

Moreover, Arcoraci lived for a long time near the residence of one of the Matticks brothers.

Although he would occupy an important role in the Montreal organized crime scene, Arcorcari would be a man who stands out for his great discretion.

The police nevertheless consider him a close collaborator of Pietro D'Adamo, one of the strong men of the Italian mafia in Montreal who is still the subject of a police investigation in the wake of the revelations of the hitman Frédérick Silva.

The latter is said to have committed or ordered around sixty murders for different factions of the underworld over a period of more than two decades, before turning around and collaborating with the authorities from the summer of 2022.

Mafia italo-canadese ”paralizzata” dalla maxi inchiesta “Alliance” a Montréal, ”testimone speciale” da 3 milioni di dollari

Italian-Canadian Mafia “Paralyzed” by “Alliance” Maxi Investigation in Montreal, “Special Witness” Worth $3 Million

“The Montreal mafia is paralyzed by the mega-investigation conducted by the police with the help of its former hitman Frédérick Silva. The Rizzuto clan is also showing signs of decline in Italy .” This is what Le Journal de Montréal wrote , speaking about the mega-investigation called “Alliance.” The article – written by Felix Seguin, Eric Thibault and Massimo Deland – tells of the Italian-Canadian mafia “paralyzed for almost two years by the largest criminal investigation currently underway in the country, which targets several of its pillars and risks dismantling the Rizzuto clan,” originally from Cattolica Eraclea (Agrigento).

According to the Canadian newspaper, “this unusual situation is not only being closely monitored by Canadian law enforcement, but is also arousing keen interest in Italy, the cradle of the mafia.” “It is extremely interesting for us,” Marco Garofalo, a senior official of the Italian State Police, told Le Journal de Montréal , stressing that “police cooperation between Italy and North America on mafia matters is very effective.” According to Garofalo, the Rizzuto clan is destined to “decline” or undergo a profound “overhaul through alliances” with other mafia factions.

“Alliance” is the name the police have given to this major investigation , the Canadian newspaper writes, “which, like the sword of Damocles hanging over their heads, is currently threatening several influential mafiosi in the metropolis with forced retirement and a long prison sentence”. The hitman Frédérick Silva , “allegedly hired by members of the Rizzuto clan”, has begun to spill the beans, revealing everything to investigators from the Sûreté du Québec and the Montreal police in exchange for a €3 million deal that is causing a lot of discussion in Canada.

Italian-Canadian Mafia, Leonardo Rizzuto Sought “Council” in Sicily After Attempts to Kill Him in 2023
Silva has reportedly already helped investigators shed light on several murders, and is said to be collaborating on 65 crimes linked to various factions of organized crime over two decades. “The police, who are trying to corroborate his statements, are not sparing investigative resources. The homes of mobsters have been searched during police raids, including those of the co-leader of the Rizzuto clan , Stefano Sollecito, and rising stars such as Pietro D'Adamo, Vito Salvaggio and Davide Barberio,” writes Le Journal de Montréal . “The suspects involved in this investigation are also being monitored during tailing operations. Their conversations are at risk of being recorded by the police, armed with electronic listening warrants, without their knowledge. The mafia members targeted by the Alliance project are aware of this.”

“We no longer see them leaving their homes to hold business meetings in the city or to go and talk to other members of the mafia, as they usually do. We only see them leaving to meet with their lawyer,” police sources told the Canadian newspaper. The pressure has been increasing for about two months, since the press revealed that Silva had signed a contract with the State as a “special witness,” with a record reward of more than $3 million for his cooperation with justice . “It is expected,” the article reads at the end, “that the police will make the first arrests in the case in the coming months of 2025.”
