ROME Over 200 cyber inspectors ready to enter service in the postal police to tackle cybercrime in its various forms, capable of even putting national security at risk: among them not only university students and information technology workers but also hackers who have decided to move to the side of legality. This is what the “Corriere della Sera” wrote, having interviewed the director of the postal and telecommunications police service Ivan Gabrielli. In the interview Gabrielli describes the various methods of criminal “infiltration” of cyberspace, including attacks on institutions and critical infrastructures. “A criminal phenomenon linked to drug, weapons and human trafficking where the profits from scams are invested”, says Gabrielli, who underlines how violations of databases and even public administration websites are often carried out “by Nigerian and Ivorian hackers in Africa but also in our country, in Campania and Calabria, in environments adjacent to organized crime.
