The sentence thus becomes definitive for Attanasio, indicated by the Catania DDA as the boss of the Siracusa Bottaro-Attanasio gang, and De Carolis, a leading member of the clan. Angelo Sparatore was killed in the context of a settling of scores, with six gunshots in via Gaetano Barresi, a northern outskirts of Siracusa. A collaborator of justice is said to have revealed the background to the murder, explaining that De Carolis was with him, while Attanasio gave the order.
