Some packed their bags before the war, when Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk on February 21. Among the refugees were also Putin's confidants.
Of the 200 Russian businessmen on the famous Forbes list, 49 chose to flee the country, according to an analysis of border crossing data. Some of the billionaire refugees chose to flee after attending the now infamous Kremlin meeting. Putin informed the Russian economic top about his plans this evening.
