India has launched multiple missile attacks on Pakistani areas, the Pakistani army reports. India reports that it has hit at least nine targets in Operation Sindoor. Several explosions were heard on Tuesday evening in an area near the Pakistani city of Muzaffarabad, the city that is located about 130 kilometers north of the Pakistani capital Islamabad and on the border of the disputed Kashmir region.

Pakistan has vowed revenge for the attacks. A Pakistani security source told Reuters that one child was killed in the attacks, and two others were reportedly injured. One of the targets hit was a religious educational institution in the Pakistani city of Bahawalpur, near the Indian border.

Pakistan and India launch missile attacks on each other

According to the Pakistani military, India on Saturday carried out several missile attacks on three air bases.

One of those bases is on the outskirts of the capital Islamabad, near the army headquarters. Eyewitnesses told Reuters news agency that heavy explosions were heard.

A Pakistani army spokesman says most of the missiles have been intercepted and have not hit their targets. According to Pakistani state broadcaster, missiles have now been fired at India. Pakistani airspace is now closed.

The G7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States) are calling on Pakistan and India to exercise restraint and urging both countries to engage in talks.

India and Pakistan have been at each other's throats since at least 26 Indian tourists were killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22. India accuses Pakistan of being behind the attack. Pakistan denies this. Tensions between the two countries have been running high ever since.
