the 26th street crew

* when trying to get this crew succession timeline it became apparent that the common belief is that angelo lapietra retained title of capo while imprisoned and used his brother james as acting capo from 1986 to james sept 1993 death. lapietra then subsequently used acting capos to control crew until his june.7 1995 release date. i may have that release date wrong but was only one i could get off bureau of prisons site. i suppose it could be another a. lapietra that was released so if anyone has a correct date for this that would help.

Capo
angelo lapietra (1992-1999) -imprisoned in 1986 skim trial.

acting capo
james lapietra (1992-1993) -died sept.9 1993

acting capo
john monteleone (1993-1997) -promoted to BOSS.

acting capo
frank m. caruso (1997-2001) -promoted to Capo

* now with release of lapietra either in 1995 or 1997, i believe the crew continued to use an acting capo as lapietra likely was under some parole conditions as to who he could be seen with and was older with health issues. there is talk in monteleones FBI file that james diforti played an important role within crew during this time as well. however diforti was indicted for murder and union corruption around 1997, so if he was first given a bump up it did not last long. diforti was also suspected by frank calabrese sr. of being a possible informant so this may have worked against any kind of promotion also. there has also been talk that at some point 1993-1995 era both the cicero crew and 26th were combined although i have not seen much to confirm that this happened.

Capo
frank m. caruso (2001-2023) -promoted to BOSS.

Capo
