The authority of the 'ndrangheta in Spain: Alvaro and Pesce a guarantee
Former drug trafficker Vittorio Raso tells the prosecutors in Turin: "Lo Surdo, the Creas and Franco D'Onofrio: there was no one more than them"

LAMEZIA TERME In Spain "some suppliers immediately understood that we were part of the 'ndrangheta, I spent my membership in the Alvaro family , I also said that we had the exit to the cocaine port thanks to the Pesces , thanks to Bartolo Bruzzaniti , things that I said to some drug trafficker to gain credibility". Vittorio Raso , considered a leading figure in the Piedmontese 'ndrangheta and former "golden drug trafficker" for the Calabrian clans, in front of the prosecutors of the DDA of Turin traces the boundaries of the authority of the clans, moving them all the way to Spain. Right there where "the exhausted one" (this is his nickname) was captured in June 3 years ago at a checkpoint in Castelldefels. Only two years earlier, in Barcelona, ??Raso had been arrested, only to be released later on the order of a judge.

Spanish but also Albanians
Spanish, but not only. According to Raso's story, the same thing happened with Albanian suppliers because "when they knew you were from Calabria, they had a lot of respect, because it is known that Calabrians are payers and not scammers, so it was convenient for me to spend this role of mine, but also the fact of being from Calabria already helped". In Italy, however, Raso says he never had to "spend this membership of mine because it was known, no one could come to me and tell me that I couldn't sell smoke".

No problem, then, for the market of Vittorio Raso whose name and membership were well known to everyone. In Settimo Torinese, for example, the Magnis or the Carnazzas could never have told Raso not to sell drugs, because «they knew that I was with Alvaro, and I am also Giacomo Lo Surdo's cousin, the linchpin of the Crea family and Franco D'Onofrio's buddy, in Turin there is no one more than them». Indeed, as the former king of drug trafficking continues, «I couldn't have problems with anyone, indeed: if I had wanted to I could have imposed the market myself» Raso told the prosecutors according to whom «many were also afraid, many joined me for fear of some extortion or some retaliation, in the end I had my big outgoings and I didn't need to go and extort or do things like that to other traffickers, if I had to I could have done it».

«Everyone knew that he was a man of the 'ndrangheta»
Raso, showing a certain superiority, also tells the prosecutors that he could have "gone to everyone in Turin and told them that from that moment on they would have to buy the smoke from me otherwise they would no longer work" but, he explains to the prosecutors, "I never needed to do that, I sold it wholesale and I could make wholesale prices, in fact they were the ones who came looking for me".
The former drug trafficker also explains that he never needed to "request the intervention of Domenico Alvaro" because "the main families of Turin had been there with us in prison, everyone knew the strength of the Alvaro family, in Turin those were the families. Those who bought from me even outside, after all, knew that I was a man of the 'ndrangheta". ( g.curcio@corrierecal.it )
