I think that at its core (and its beginnings) PETA has the right intentions. But some of them are just complete whackjobs who go too far when they talk about saving lobsters from being steamed, etc.

One of the funniest things I ever heard was when a vegan PETA member was going on & on about how wrong it is to kill an animal just to eat its meat. The life of a cow/pig/chicken/fish is as sacred as yours or mine...she said.

Then the interviewer got her to admit she buys and was wearing at the time pretty expensive leather boots. She likes nice things, she said. He asked her why it was ok to kill animals for pretty clothes and not ok to kill them for food. Her answer was truly a PETA classic:

"....I dunno...."

The interview pretty much ended right there.
