BTW, it appears that Gabe is no longer working at the hotel, so Erica is definitely the person to contact - and I think this should be done ASAP at this point. She handled my reservation, was quite courteous and professional, but also explained that any reservations at the special rate must be approved by the hotel's general manager. There is no telling how long there will be any rooms at the special rate! (Or even any rooms available, for that matter.)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.

Call me a sissy or a wuss or whatever, but if this terror thing hits the U.S., I won't hesitate to cancel my flight. At this point, and the fact that I'm leaving out of Ontario, CA and not LAX, I am only a little nervous thus far.

But on a happier note, I sure am looking forward to getting there and planting both feet on the ground.

I'm only a little uneasy at this point, not scared to death. But, I admit, it does concern me.

I can understand that... I was uneasy enough about Chicago that I drove, cuz it was the 9/11 Anniversary weekend at the country's busiest airport. And I was uneasy about San Fran a couple months ago, for no reason, but I did it and had no problems! But it'd be different for me during these threats... I hope it blows over and things get back to normal before your trip! But at the same time, the odds are pretty slim (around zero actually) with 1000s of flights per day, day after day, month after month, without incident - so I wouldn't worry too much!

I am sorry to say that there is a very strong possibility that I will not be able to come to the convention. My husband's grandmother has taken a turn for the worse. I will have to see how her condition is at the end of the week

I talked to Becky today about Ray's grandma and depending on her condition we will come to the convention and leave real early Sunday morning and go to KY and visit with her cuz she has monday off.

Although all of us certainly understand if you don't come, I am glad that it is possible you'll still attend and look forward to meeting you.

Btw, I'm confused on all these "carry-on" restrictions at the airports. (I was born in the land of confustion ). I know I can't carry on even my contact solution and no make-up, lotions, etc. I heard nothing about electronics, nor did I see it was prohibited as a carry-on on the AA website, so I assume I can bring my laptop and cell phone as a carry on right????? I think the electronic bans were for just the overseas flights no?

When Becky flew into Cleveland back in June she carried her portable dvd player with her. I forgot what airline it was though. I didn't know you weren't allowed to carry on makeup and stuff. Why is that

Mig that's because of the latest terror event last week. I'm sure it's not permanent and like I said, they are more strict with the UK/US flights.

However, I do know that liquid make-up, lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, contact solutions, eyedrops, soft drinks and a list of others, as of yesterday were not allowed as carry-ons. You need to put them all in your checked bags. I really don't mind the precaution, but I just brought a nice carry-on bag for just those things.

Since the convention's in Philly, I was wondering if the thought of catching a Phillies game ever came up? Or will they be on a road trip when you meet up?

I still remember reading about the Scrubs game y'all attended (and SC's accident!) - the pictures were fun to see, and I thought the idea of going to a ballgame together was so cool.

Mig, if anything, your reason for cancelling, if God forbid you do have to cancel, is a totally understandable one.

I know that you really want to attend and also know that you really hope that you don't NEED to cancel because of the situation that has arisen.

As a matter of fact We ALL hope that you don't NEED to cancel because of your personal situation.

If we get to see you next weekend, it will be good for 2 reasons :

A) We get to see you.

and

B) It means Grandma Slade is still here with us.

Our prayers are with you, your family and most of all with Grandma Slade.
