I don't know the Italian name for it. I've heard many things. Many use it as a way to say "go fuck yourself" and some think it warns evil spirits. Like I have a gold cross I also have a gold horns gesture.

However insult wise I have never seen them with the horns in the air, although it's always seen in rock concerts.
