You see, I can sing and they say I'm pretty good to boot, but I when it comes to my fav Puccini's arias, i.e. from Turandot and Butterly, I would just sing them softly or hum!! I don't want realism. I want magic! Yes, yes, magic. I try to give that to people. I do misrepresent things. I don't tell the truth. I tell what ought to be truth (Blanche/A streetcar named desire)

Originally posted by Don Sicilia: I keep forgetting to post in here - The Marriage of Figaro is by far my favorite opera (and the only one I've seen live). The group songs, especially those that have the individual singers join in separately at different points in time (ends of Act II and Act IV, right Afs?), are absolutely magic. That's why I'm your #2 fan! You have a great taste! Yes, you are right. But in the end of the 2nd Act the singers kind of join one by one, so it begins with one singer and it turns to duet, trio, quartet and so on. The end of the 4th Act, everyone is already in the garden and it is more of a chorus at the end. JM can correct me if I'm wrong in the opera definitions here. ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smile.gif)
