Trying to find the old topic where we talked about who would possibly play the Joker in the sequel to Batman Begins but I couldn't find it. Oh well, here's the new in any case:

"I live in the Rochester, NY area, which is where Philip Seymour Hoffman grew up. The media has been covering his Golden Globe nomination for CAPOTE, and in a recent interview with his old high school drama teacher (who remains close to him) on a local news program, she confirmed that Hoffman has been in talks to take on The Penguin in the upcoming BATMAN sequel and is very interested in the role."

I could DEFINITLEY see Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin, though the next one is focused on The Joker.

Hey, how's it going?

He could be in 2 or 3. But yeah I've heard the Joker will be in 2 (maybe played by Paul Bettany) and that Harvey Dent may be in 2 or 3 (perhaps played by Guy Pearce)

I just hope the sequels are from Nolan only, and are at LEAST 3/4 as good. (half would probably be only decent :p )

Hoffman's an incredible actor. One of the best working today. Can I imagine him as The Penguin? Strangely, yes.

With no reference whatsoever to the movie, who would you want to see/could see recasted for Catwoman/Selina Kyle?

I think we should stay away from Catwoman for a while...
Perhaps in the thrid instalment of the new series. At this point I can't even see anyone reprising a role that was done so well by Michelle Phiefer (Spelling?).

I agree as well. I was just seeing who everyone would want to see if they were going to "recast" in a sense all of the villians

Batman : Mask of the Phantasm

As someone whos not a big fan of animation, let me tell u this animated movie is MUCH better than all the 5 live-action films. Yes, I mean it. You dont believe me? watch it for yourself.

Oh and I tried the link to the new movie fan board, but I cant open proboards forums with this computer...as well as many other sites and forums...that also means Fame wont be able to join as well since we're using the same comp...but if u still not sure about the place and think about moving again, please tell me...

No WAY. I saw it. Batman: TAS was EXCELLENT, a marvelous cartoon, but there's no chance this is as good as any of the live action.

You're not a true Batman fan until you've seen the ORIGINAL Batman with Adam West. Oh yeah!

Mask of the Phantasm is excellent, but I still prefer Batman Returns over all of the Batman films.

Debra (and Flame for that matter), it's such a shame you can't join the new film board .

And I agree, Mask of the Phantasm is a wonderful film.

Yeah, its too bad. Especially if like the last one, you're once again covered with Van Damme fans I only visited the old one once from a different comp, but I never laughed so hard in my life....I remember that thread where one of the Van Damme fans tried to push Kickboxer into your top 100 list and you all started to panic

Yeah, he posed a real threat to us.

Starting the new board has filtered out some thousand-plus non-members, so to speak. It would be nice to get a passionate filmbuff fanbase to add to the already-lovely community. But this isn't an advertising thread, so back to the topic...

An actress for Catwoman really does fail me. In fact, I'd rather not see the character come to life again - especially if it was a sequel to Halle Berry's razzie-rapture bomb.

Batman-on-Film starts off 2006 with the latest casting buzz on who might be in the running to portray D.A. Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face, in the next Batman movie. According to BoF's source, actor Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama) is under consideration for the dual role.

Fans will recall that Lucas played one of the villains in The Hulk, and lost the role of Catwoman's love interest to Benjamin Bratt. His other credits include Stealth, Undertow and A Beautiful Mind. He will next be seen in the basketball drama Glory Road.

Lucas also co-starred opposite Christian Bale in American Psycho and opposite former Batman star Val Kilmer in Wonderland.

Because Nolan made a great movie with Batman Begins. I don't know what to think about more movies though.

Why not? It seems to be common knowledge now.

Although, granted Nolan is director, the chances of a good Batman sequel are pretty well off.

And before anything is said, yes I enjoyed Bad Boys II and I own the DVD but do I feel it needed to be made? Not at all

I liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I thought it was overall a decent film and different enough from the original to stand on its own.

What were your thoughts Irish, anything specific?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was very good. In fact Burton's art direction was better than the old version, which I find overrated to an extent. I Was surprised to find that the candy room was actually there, rather than CGI. Both are good musicals. I wouldn't even consider it a remake, it adapts the novel, not the script of the first film, which is different. Then you have Burton's added Wonka family background, yet another father theme in his film.

I don't want a rewatch though, for some reason, although I'd like to see the original again.

As for Bad Boys II, that's complete shit. Horrible action, unrealism, bad acting, and of course sour drama. I love when Martin Lawrence found out about his sister's kidnapping, and what's the line while the camera pans around him?

It just got real.

That gave me goosebumps. In fact I shit my pants the first time I heard it.

I didn't like the Wonka family background, the songs were TERRIBLE, the umpa-loopa's were horrid and I hate Tim Burton. Definitely a movie that didn't need to be remade

Give it up Irish, you don't hate Burton. You hate the people you know who rated him over Scorsese.
