I just saw a salt truck go down my street, and we've had nothing lay yet. Of course, if we get 10" tonight I won't see them again until Wednesday.

Geoff has beer and vodka? If I hopped on a bus now I could be there by the middle of the second movie.

JGeoff - have you seen the latest forecast (by Nick Gregory) on Fox News??? According to him, this thing will blast the ENTIRE State of NJ.

So even though you're right about the 'hit & miss' shore, be ready!!!

If that's the case, I better go out and pick up two 30-packs and a half-gallon bottle of vodka!!

Bethie, my friend, he's Don Malta, and nobody comes to Jersey and talks to a man like Don Malta like that! I've about had it here playing nursemaid. You get on the bus, I'll hop on the Garden State Parkway, and we'll spend the weekend partying at the Don's. JG - Do you think you could keep up with me and Beth?

Oh, wait, that's right, Geoff said that older women SAG, so maybe not!!

The question is could Geoff keep up with us. As far as older women sagging, I think I've only got 2 years on him, so he better be nice.

Driving back from work wasn't all that bad (the road crews have done a superb job of keeping ahead of the storm). There were a few seconds of total whiteout conditions (pretty scary when you can't see ANYTHING in front of you while driving at 30 mph).

We've got about 5" on the ground now but the local forecasting station (at Upton, L.I.) has now increased its expected accumulations for here on the Island to 12-18"!!!

That blowing snow (mixed earlier with some ice pellets) hurts like a mofo. I felt like I was getting sandblasted while I was clearing off my car.

I didn't make it to work today. F' that. Here's what it looked like at 7AM, with another foot possible.

OMG!! Just woke up and I can't believe my eyes. I guess it's the wind that has blown the drifts around, but I have MOUNTAINS of snow. Glad I'm staying today, although I still have the snow-blowing to look forward to. YUK!

For all you animal lovers, I just let my dog out, and a whole bunch of snow blew in. My kitten Stella thought this was really cool stuff, and started batting it around. She did seem rather confused about why her paws were wet, though.

Glad to hear you made it home safely SC.

We got about a foot here. I haven't checked to see the exact amount. I got up early planning on shoveling, but I think it's still snowing, unless it's just the wind blowing the snow drifts.

I left Marcello's restaurant at 8pm last night and it was just starting. There's got to be 14" out there now. Good thing I have lots of junk food in the house.

Hey there, SC!!! I'm glad you made it home ok, too.
Believe it or not, I was thinking about you when I woke up earlier...knew I'd find good news when I got on the Gangster BB!

I'm making French Toast & sausages for my daughter & I ... we're enjoying watching the storm rage out the window. My only regret is having to go dig out the car later (MUCH later) today!

Hope all the rest of you n'easters are home!!

Buffalo got a few inches at best, nothing really. In fact, we've been having an extremely mild winter, we've had total green all over until late last week.

Go global warming! :p

Did you have the stuffed mushroom appetizer?? They are quite good. As is the veal. Did they have the nice man singing? He always plays The Godfather Theme.

Yes, we have quite a lot of snow, and it's starting to come down even heavier now. I wish I could start clearing the driveway, but it's too early.

Would that be 'Marcello's' in Suffern, NY?

I planned our company's Holiday Party there several years ago...very nice place!!

I used to have friends who lived in Suffern, they've since gone & relocated to Cape Cod, MA. But I remember from the many visits there (and from working in Mahwah, very close to the Rockland County Border) that it's a very nice town.

Or should I say 'Village'? (The Village of Suffern)

See Double-J some people still get really excited about snow.

It was so nice not to see more snow this morning. Nothing but bright sunshine out my windows this morning.
It has been such a great winter so far hasn't it D-J.

I feel so happy that we could share winter with those who don't get these great snow falls. You have to wonder how many of those people effected by this storm don't even have a decent snow shovel or even a snowblower, never mind their own snowplow.

Are you kidding , Don V ???

This is TERRIFIC!!

I've always wished we'd have at least one of these type of storms every winter. It never ceases to amaze and delight me how something as pretty and delicate looking as SNOW can literally bring an entire region to a virtual halt. Weather...one of the few things that modern technology has not yet been able to conquer. Mother Nature at her best.

Let it snow...let it snow...let it SNOW!!!

Its official - the National Weather Service has measured 22.8" in NYC's Central Park as of 11:00 a.m. This makes it the second biggest snowstorm EVER in New York City!

I heard all flights were cancelled as well. Even though I may joke about how nice it is here in CA, believe me, I lived in those cold winters for 30 yrs and certainly can understand what you all are talking about.

Anyone who has never experienced this kind of weather really has no true concept of its affects.

The snow had slowed down here for a while but I see it's now beginning to take on blizzard conditions again...just as predicted.

Good time to start baking that pumpkin bread....

It is great that it has happened on a Sunday. A day that people should be for staying home and spending time with one's family anyway.

To bad it takes bad weather to make it happen. Life is to busy I guess.

Went out with the snowblower about two hours ago. It was a miserable endeavor. I wanted to get the bulk while I still could, or it gets too deep for the blower. It almost stalled a bunch of times as it was. I'm planning to go out again in about an hour and get all the areas I missed. And this time, I'm taking the kids with me. What good is having kids if you don't use them as slave labor every now and then???

It is still snowing here, light but steady. Apple, please don't send a heavier downfall our way.
