I can't believe this shit!!

The company that wrote this BB software is switching to a new format, and, will no longer support this version! In fact, they're gonna disable it in 10 days!!

It sucks, and I can't believe it!! But life is like that.

So - come April 10, this BB will apparently cease to exist! No more... I can't believe they have that power!!

I will try my best to switch to other message board software, but, I'm almost positive that everything we've created here won't be able to be imported!

That means, everyone's gotta sign up again... all posts the past 5 years LOST! Everything will be different, and, it may even take a month or two to transition before I get a new one set up.

This TOTALLY stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to be kidding! You put so much work into this and now it's all going down the drain?! I wish this wasn't true. I wish the best to you on this journey of finding a forum like this. This really sucks. I honestly love this forum. I don't post too much, but coming in here and reading people's posts is like one of those feel-goods. Whether we talk alot, not too much, or not at all, we're all family. I'll talk to you through myspace I guess. You may have been able to pull this off with someone like Fredo, But Don Vito taught us much before he passed along.

If that's a joke that's just cruel. It's like joking about cancer.

I have to admit that the timing of this is suspicious (being April 1st) but hearing Geoff's voice describing what happened settled it for me.

I can only suggest that a lesson was learned and hope that Geoff picks a better software manufacturer for the future boards. I also hope that he tries not to save a few bucks by going with the less expensive program and, if necessary, charge members a nominal cost each month to cover the expenses of a new (better) service.

So its not a joke then

Well it's really unfortunate that this wonderful site will be closing down soon. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.

I guess it works out pretty well for me though, The timing couldn't have worked out any better. I was going to wait two more weeks to post this, but I guess that now that this news has come out I will tell you all about it now.
As of April 18th, I will have my own message boards up and running, and I was going to submit my goodbyes to this board anyway.

So if anyone is interested in joining my new board, which will be called ; "MafiaBB", I will post a link once it is up and running.

We will be holding the first annual "MafiaBB" convention in Atlantic City the weekend of August 18th 2006.


I will continue to post on these boards until my new board is up and ready.

I thought of April Fool's just after reading the first sentence. Reading SC & DC's comments especially, now give me pause. Geoff, joke is over, tell us the truth.

I don't understand and am not knowledgeable on how a software company (which one?) can simply discontinue use, and are "you" the only Mod affected?? And DC, what's this about a new board?? Not only that, and not to diminish Geoff's work/design here, if true, isn't it fairly easy to start one's one discussion group, even if plain & simpe in terms of layout??

Simply can't be. It's like we are forced to say goodbye forever in ten days, to all the friends we talk to daily. I won't have it I tell you. Probably one of the best April Fool's jokes I have heard in a long time. Or is it??

I still say this is a great April Fool! But if this is serious, I wish to see some proof. There is nothing regarding something like this on the Infopop site.

Nice…really nice. Either way I do find it all rather funny.

I personally don’t believe it because
1. it doesn’t take months to set up a board
2. Don’t you either buy or license the software, so if they stopped supporting it you would either run un-updateable software or be given an upgrade?
3. SC backing you and all this “tone of voice” spiel – humor not SC’s strong point so making him the straight man makes sense but I don’t buy it.
4. A posting on an AOL blog not that convincing even with the big lettering and all
5. That was way to many (!’s)

If it is all true and I’m just too cynical well then I’m going to laugh in Irish’s face “by, by 24 thousand posts” (note I would be pointing at him at this point to)


Edit:Oh, Yeah and when I asked about instituting [spoiler] tags you said that they would be upgrading the software and you wanted to wait until then before considering it(indicating that you knew a software upgrade was coming and you were not worried about it)

It's the smart move.
