Okay...

I dispatched Luca Brasi to Philly and he just returned. Things were negotiated that might solve all our problems...

La Veranda (and most other places Luca checked) would be willing to let us order ala carte, but as I suspected, and understandably, is not willing to write separate checks. Luca forgot to ask whether the bar tab could be separate, so perhaps they'd be willing to do that at least. I can't see why not.

In any event, I don't see the big deal with one check: It wouldn't take all that much work to calculate how much we each owe and add 21% to it. No one leaves until we have enough!

That's fair to everyone, and fairly easy.

I could have took the bull by the horns and said we are going here on Friday and there on Saturday but I'm not like that. I just want to make sure everybody has a say in what they want to eat and where they want to go. I really don't care where we go or how the checks come. We can go to TacoBell for all I care. I would be happy with that. I'm just looking forward to spend a couple days with ya.

By the way, has anybody heard from Luca lately...???

CUT TO: SC and TIS's table -day

TIS : "SC, you never told me you knew the Manager of La Veranda!"


SC : "Sure... You wanna go there?"


TIS : "Huh? Oh, well, sure!"


SC : "My most valued and trusted friend helped us get reservations."


TIS : " Please, SC, tell me."


SC : " Well, when the plans to go to Philadelphia were first starting out, we were originally going to The Moshulu for dinner. And as the date got closer and closer, and it seemed that more and more memebers were going to attend, we wanted to get out of going to the Moshulu for dinner and instead go to a place that would have a menu selection that would be more satisfying to everyone who was attending. Now, MIG is Don Malta's godmother. And MIG called up this manager of La Veranda, and she offered him a guarenteed party of 15 people to let us make a reservation and order off of the Ala Carte menu. But the Manager said no.

So the next day, Don Malta went to see him; only this time with his Luca Brasi. And within an hour, he agreed to accept a reservation and allow us to order off the ala carte menu!"


TIS : " How'd he do that?"

SC : "Don Malta made him an offer he couldn't refuse."


TIS : "What was that?"


SC : " Our Luca Brasi held a gun to his head, and Don Malta assured him that either he'd agree to take our reservation and let us order off the regular menu, or he would wind up like the manager of The Tuscanny Grill over in Somerset N.J. wound up. That's a true story. That's my gangsterbb friends, TIS. It's not me."




Then we are agreed. The ordering from an ala carte menu will be permitted, but controlled -- and Don Malta will divy up the final amount-- and there will be drinks at The Moshulu before dinner at La Veranda on Saturday Night.


And let me add that thanks to MIG's being on top of things, her early inquirey with the restaurants helped us to get things straightened out. Thanks again Mama Mig!

Originally, when we began talking about a 2006 weekend, if memory serves me correctly, we decided on Philly because THE MOSHULU was there and we thought it a perfect venue for our "Godfather" gangsterbb Convention.

Anyone remember that at all?

A'ight, this is getting too confusing... :p

We're going to La Veranda Saturday night, for Italian, because that is the result of the original Poll. They were willing to let us order ala carte, so it works out just fine.

As for Friday night, we can have another poll and 7-page discussion for those who're going to be around that evening. Or, we can decide between the next two most-voted places: Shula's or Moshulu. Or, I'd be just as happy (or happier) going to Pat's for authentic cheesesteak.

Forget cheesecake!! TOM PETTY IS IN TOWN FRIDAY NIGHT!!

La Veranda is fine with me, it's what I originally voted for (which I later regretted & wished I could take back in favor Moshulu, which would've still lost anyway).

But if the rest of you dare decide to have Friday's dinner at Moshulu, then don't expect to see me on Saturday. :p

Unless of course, you STILL plan on having pre-dinner drinks & photo there on Saturday.

Yea, somebody made a decision. That's perfectly fine with me. As far as Moshulu's we can still go there before/after dinner for drinks. And, as far as the cheesesteak, I'm ok with that as well.

There's also that place near JGeoff that has Philly Cheesesteak pizza. Maybe you guys should vote on that for Friday.

Thanks Mig! That's a nice size group isn't it? As far as Friday night, I'm not sure if I should be counted in that or not. I am suppose to arrive in Philly at 5:00 p.m and considering flight delays and airport to hotel transportation, I'm not sure when I'll actually get there. I wouldn't want to hold you guys up.

If I do get there late (too late for the dinner), I'm happy to get a Philly Cheesteak somewhere, After all, I'll be very disappointed if I go to Philly and never have one.
