Wow,I just finished the book, and it's great. Not like any of Puzo's other books I've read. In this book you're supposed to hate the Mafia and in others you side with the Friends of the Friends. It really deepened mike's character, and because it was written in 1984(after Part 1 and 2) it sort of explians how Mike was able to kill Fredo, and it hints that Vito might have killed his own brother.
"[Vito]A man's first duty is to keep himself alive. Then comes what everyone calls honor.....
[No longer Vito]It was the first lesson Michael recieved from his father and the one he laerned best.It was to color his future life, persuade him to make terrible decisions he could never have dreamed of making before.[Like killing his own brother?]...It helped him survive, but it made him unhappy."
