I heard a rumour about this so I googled it to see if there's any facts about it. Interesting that I found that he actually read the book for the audio edition. Anyway, further searching led to this, check out his bio page on the HBO site http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/cast/actor/michael_imperioli.shtml Scroll to the bottom and it clearly says "As a writer, Michael has done work for Dimension on KING SUCKERMAN and is currently writing the screen adaptation of Mario Puzo's OMERTA for Miramax." I wonder when it was last updated. Hopefully this wasn't old news that has recenltly been scrapped. I got faith in Imperioli, he can't be any worse than Moltisanti.

It's not unheard of for a book to bear a later copyright than the (start of the) film adaptation. To Live And Die In LA actually began filming before the book hit the stores, because William Friedkin optioned the book when he read it in pre-release manuscript form.

Plus, the book Casino came out at almost the same time as the film I believe. (I could be wrong though...  )
