I know this is not exactly a "Mobster Movie" but I needed help here. I remember laughing my eyes out when Stan (John Cazale) exclaimed to Mike (Deniro) about: "...and what the hell is 'This is This'???? 'This is This' (Mockingly) what's that supposed to mean huh?

A minute before, Deniro had refused, quite stubbornly, to give Cazale his spare hunting boots as Cazale always used not to pay importance to the Deer-hunting, which was a Holy thing for Deniro. So Deniro refuses and points with a bullet saying "This is This"...Anyone with any idea what that means?

Although I didn't find Deniro's acting here outstanding (bearing in mind he's my favourite actor), I was amazed at Christopher Walken\s performance.

I took it as this is here and now. This is reality. Stash/Stan always is screwing around and doesn't take anything seriously. Michael on the other hand takes life, and especially deer hunting VERY seriously. I think it was his way of telling Stash that he won't put up with anymore B.S. up in the mountains.

Remember the pistol incident later in the cabin?
