"Goodfellas" is one of the all-time greats, and you're right: part of its interest comes from showing wiseguy life from the viewpoint of the lower echelons. "Donny Brasco" really gets down to low-level street life. It doesn't get any lower than the scene in which the hot-shot Mafiosi are reduced to smashing open parking meters for quarters.
