After more than a year of editing, and fixing many problems Scorsese had with the movie,I would find it pretty sad if it turned out to be a crap feast.

There's a lot of talk about it doing good at the oscars. I hope so, Scorsese is so over do for an oscar. And Daniel Day Lewis is great!

I too saw previews of Gangs of New York a couple months ago. It looks like it might be pretty good!

Looks to be, yet again, another awesome Scorsese film!

Congrats on being made, Omar!

I'd give anything by Scorsese a chance, especially in the crime genre. "Gangs of New York," in the original book by Asbury, is a colorful story.

You can view the trailer at GangsOfNewYork.com

It looks pretty good, but I have a feeling DiCrapio will ruin it as usual. But at least Cameron Diaz is in it

I am surprised how many of you don't like DiCaprio. I have only seen a couple of his movies, but I think he is good, and by the previews that I saw of Gangs of New York, I thought he looked quite credible. Is it his boyish looks or what?? I guess we'll have to wait til the movie comes out and see.

TIS, I share you're surprisedness (is that a word?)

DiCaprio played in a couple of non-commercial well-done movies as a boy (Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries) in which he wasn't bad, then made his breakthrough with Titanic (not a bad movie, but only the true romanticizers (again, is that a word?) would think he's responsible for that) and after that he had some guts starring in The Beach, which was a positive surprise to me too.

Off course he's a spoiled kid when only in his early twenties or something, but his acting nor the movies he played in can be really called bad. Now, for this winter, two crime/gangster-films with DiCaprio, this could mean his "second breakthrough" if you ask me. I'm looking forward to another historical epic with an Irish DiCaprio, and off course the Spielberg-Hanks-DiCaprio movie "Catch me if you can".

when you say he starred with Robert DeNiro in a movie, I had to think of Basketball Diaries. To me, this movie also had a little resemblance to Sleepers, with Robert DeNiro as a father. In both movies, a group of young boys get things messed up.

this way we're getting a long way off-topic (originally started around "Gangs of New York") but I had to share it.. :p

By the way, also in "This Boy's Life" (1993): Tobey Maguire and Eliza Dushku, two young hot stars these days.
