I think Donnie Brasco is a great movie, but I have a question. Towards the end when Lefty and Donnie are gonna kill Sonny Red's kid Lefty says "I didnt say yous was a rat, I'm your best friend" (or something close to that) Donnie stops and stares at him. It was as if he was remembering what Lefty had told him earlier about how its your best friend that usually wacks ya. Do you think that if the FBI raid hadnt gone through and Donnie had hesitated do you think Lefty might have been told to wack him?

I dont think so. If lefty were told to whack Donnie, then the order would most likely have came from Sonny Black. And later after being told that Donnie was an agent, they talk about Donnie, and says "No was Donnie is a rat.. If I didnt know Donnie".

One thing I dont understand is why one from the crew is escorting Donnie with a gun to his neck from the car two times. First when they give Lefty the tiger in the beginning and way later when they have just whacked the Sonny Red crew.

That's what baffles me too (Paulie's dislike of Donnie that is). Maybe it's because he is moving up fast in the world, and Paulie perhaps feels threatened by this, as he could soon see himself no longer so close to Sonny Black?
