All exceptionally made movies. But I rarely see posts on these most are on the Godfather or Scarface, or Goodfellas. ANy opinions on how they rate with the boardmembers?

i like a lot this movies too in special casino, and carlito´s way, i think al was awesome like carlitos brigante,sean penn too , and also like heat a movie with 2 greats actors there, donnie brasco are good with deep/ pacino and casino awesome with deniro/pesci in the cast. and martin scorsese in the direction.

maybe we can put a tread for 1 at the time , for talking about this movies

GoodFellas is the movie that changed my life, it's number three on my all time favorites. It's one of the best movies made... Period.

Donnie Brasco is in my top twenty... Definately a superb film. My favorite actor [Depp] with the best actor ever [Pacino] make this stand out as one of the best mob films of the past quarter century.

Heat is almost in my top twenty... Very good film. Sometimes it dwindles in length, but it's one of the best crime movies I've ever seen.

Carlito's Way, I'm borrowing from my cousin... I've yet to watch it.

The only one I've never seen from your list is Carlito's Way. I enjoyed Donnie Brasco, but loved Heat & Casino. I watch Heat whenever it's on. I think DeNiro is fascinating in both Heat & Casino, especially the latter. Both movies could have been shortened by 20-30 minutes, but are still classics nonetheless.

Carlito's Way is a great movie. I think that it is better than Scarface, IMHO, because its more emotional.

Donnie Brasco is also a great film. Depp and Pacino were great. Another well-made crime film.

Casino I've only seen on TV. I liked it from what I saw though.

Heat is a great heist film. It was nice to see De Niro and Pacino on the screen together. I have the DVD but I have only watched it once.

Donnie Brasco was excellent. Johnny Depp was great in that role. Casino was also a great film.

I loved all of these movies (except for Heat because I have not seen all) and I own Donnie Brasco, great performance by Pacino and Depp.

Donnie, what a great movie, in depth discussion and real feeling for being inside LCN.
Casino, absolutely great as well, beautiffly put together, the scene where pesci is talking with his hand over his mout to stop the lip readers.
I love too, the way that pesci's character comes to vegas and starts a family immediately.

i like the film donnie basco but i hate the fact that al pacino's character is just a button man! al pacino's character should at least be one of the copa or even a don.

yea i didnt like him being a low-life soldier either, its just the beauty of his acting that he can go from being the most powerful don in the country in the godfather, to a low level mobster in brasco. By the way you stole my avatar!!

Thats the beauty of Donnie Brasco..seeing Pacino shine and show his exceptional talent playing a lowly mob figure like Lefty. He was superb. Johnny Depp was excellent, very convincing and really demonstrated he has true talent in acting range and ability. Michael Madsen was also very good and severly underrated as an actor IMO. The music, the seventies feel of New York reflected realnes to the overall movie. It was an excellent movie

All four movies you mentioned have been the subject of many threads here, Meggie, including dialog games. They just haven't been mentioned as often as "Goodfellas" and "Scarface."
My subjective opinion is that "Casino" is the best because it's a very carefully made, in-depth movie with excellent performances by DeNiro and Pesci, an awesome performance by Sharon Stone, and the usual Scorsese brilliance. But it's a notch below "Goodfellas." "Donnie Brasco" is a fine film, but the book was vastly better. I didn't much c`are for the other two.

Casino is the best of the four by a long shot, with Donnie Brasco being a great film too. Heat is great and in my Top 100, but a little overrated IMO ( I much preferred The Insider, although it isn't a crime film). I haven't seen Carlito's Way, and am not a huge De Palma fan.
