It's simple, who's your favourite?
I think, for me, it's just about Pacino, because I prefer some of his films -Scarface/Carlito'sWay/Donnie Brasco etc.

Hard to say! HEAT is my favorite movie and both are excellent in it! (I want the Special Edition version!!!) De Niro: Once Upon a Time In America, GoodFellas, Casino... Pacino: The Godfather, Scarface, Carlito's Way... I'll say De Niro but Pacino is tied at #1

The two greatest actors. They are exactly equal on acting, but De Niro has been in more great films, so I give the edge to him.

Oh yeah, you have to throw Pesci in there, too. It's very close for best mob actor:
1. De Niro 2. Pacino 3. Pesci
Then, Frank Vincent is always great. Sirico is pretty good.
Pacino and De Niro are the heavyweights, though.

Very hard decision, but I voted for Pacino.

De Niro.
I don't think there's a finer actor than him still living today, and since Brando's performance in On the Waterfront, he has perfected method acting and become the ultimate actor.
I don't think anybody can top his achievement for preparing for Raging Bull, or surpass the presence he holds in Taxi Driver, or equal his intensity in Mean Streets. Those three alone make him better than Pacino, whose best work is Donnie Brasco, with The Godfather Trilogy close behind. I found Tony Montana to be highly overrated, and Scarface itself is a wretched mess. De Niro's had finer films over the space of his career, and reached the heights that Pacino never did.

Anyway, what IMO gives DeNiro a slight edge is that almost all of his great performances have come in AT LEAST "good" movies. Pacino's best(Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface) aside from his legendary work in legendary movies like GF I and II aren't really what I would call quality movies. They are good, but no that good. DeNiro on the other hand has quite simply starred in more well made movies.....which obviously also end up helping his performances a little.

It's so close. They are by far the two greatest active actors.
