I'd have to say Goodfellas, on the grounds of Turnbull's explanation, and because it's one of my all-time favorite films, period.
Some contenders City of God (not exactly a gangster film, but it involves gangsters, and a movie that is so great, it needs to be mentioned) Casino Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Once Upon...America
