NOT a Question. I'm just curious for an asnwer.

Who were the Gallo Bros? Rosatos or Penninos?

FFC's uncle/cousin/something or other Francesco Peppino/Pennino wrote Senza Mamma from Gf2.

The singer in Gf2 Sneza Mamma is named peppinoand his daughter is Carlo.

Coppola's relatives maiden names were: Zasa & Pennino

Hence, Joey Zasa, and Lou Pennino in GF3.

Re. Apalachin: Barbara's supposed illness was the reason the arrested gangster's gave the cops. The real reason was that Barbara's "legit" job was as a big distributor of beer and soda. As such he had a large conference room and parking lot on his property, the better to accommodate the Mob bosses and their cars. They had a meeting at his place the previous year. (Guess his place was a regular Mafia Convention Center!)
The Rosato Brothers were FFC's version of the Gallo Brothers.
Q. On what appropriately named (in a foreign language) street was Castellano's "White House" located on?

Q. Who was alleged to have whacked Albert Anastasia in the barber chair in 1957?
A. Joey Gallo, after his "barbershop quintet" remark. In reality, this was just smoke, he had no complicity in the murder. In 1984, Carmine Persico told a relative through marriage that he had done the job. This too, was fabulation.

The primary shooter, sources said, was Stephen (Stevie Coogan) Grammauta, then 40, a drug dealer who was convicted of heroin trafficking eight years later. Stephen Armone, then 57, was the leader of the crew. The third member of the team, and the second shooter, sources said, was Arnold (Witty) Wittenberg, then 53, a drug dealer and long-time cohort of the mobsters.

All three men hailed from the Lower East Side. Sources said that Armone's younger brother, Joseph (Joe Piney) Armone was selected for the hit but was nabbed on a drug charge and replaced by brother Steve.

Anastasia was murdered at roughly 10:40am, in the barbershop at the Park Sheraton hotel, NY.

Q. Which mobster was overheard in 1986 by an FBI bug saying the following to an associate, "the law's gonna be tough on us. But if I can get a year's run, just one year without being disturbed, I can put this thing together where no one can ever break it."
What is John Gotti

Q: How manny people did sammy the bull kill and how much jail time did he get out of it?(easy question)

Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition.
Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.

A That would be Johnny Roselli of the Chicago Outfit.

Q. Which small time hood joined the fishes as a result of his affair with a big time Hollywood actress in 1958? Hint: it wasn't a mob hit.

Johnny Stompanato (great name for a gangster!), done in by Lana Turner's daughter Cheryl. No doubt the inspiration for the UK rock group Bad Company.

Q. In the movie, "Bugsy," Siegel shoots NY rat Harry "Big Greenie" Greenberg after taking him for a ride with Virginia Hill. In reality, Siegel drove the getaway car. Who were the three triggermen? (Hint: one was a NY Mafioso, one was from Murder, Inc., the other was his brother in law).

In recent years there have been rumors that it was really Lana herself who did the stabbing and being a good daughter, Cheryl took the heat for the old lady. Must be true what they always said about California mobsters, whacked by a couple of dames with a steak knife. Mickey Cohen was lucky to be rid of a bodyguard like him.

Tick-Tock, Bugsy, Sholem Bernstein, and ...Longy Zwillman.?

Crimelibrary isn't too specific.

You got one, Ricardo: Allie "Tick-Tock" Tanenbaum of Murder, Inc.; Frankie (Mr. Gray) Carbo of the Mafia (later in charge of the fight rackets in NYC), and Whitey Krakauer, Bugsy's brother in law.

Q. Which NYC Mob big-shot (not a Don) was known as "The Artichoke King"?

A. Terannova?

Q. Which Luchese capo, who made very lucrative deals in New Jersey during the Corallo era of the early 1980s and later moved to operations to Florida under Amuso, became a cooperating witness after being indicted for racketeering?
Must have been one of those Goodfellas guys.

Henry Hill, Tommy DeVito, and Jimmy Conway were Lucheses and were selling Coke in Miami in the early 80's. Until Tommy got popped, Henry got caught, and Paul and Jimmy cot locked. Must have been SOMEBODY from Goodfellas.

Joe Bonanno, in his autobiography, "A Man of Honor," claimed to have mediated the peace between Lucchese and Anastasia. Rusty, your phrase, "or so it was alleged," strikes exactly the right note when reading the Bonanno autobio.

Q. As was noted previously in this thread, following the burning of the French liner Normandie during WWII, the US government accepted imprisoned Charlie Luciano's "help" in ending "sabotage" on the NYC docks. What immediate reward did the US government give Luciano (that is, before he was paroled and exiled)?

Q. Which Chicago mob boss had his house raided by police, who seized $275,000 in neatly stacked 100$ bills from his safe, collected the ashes from his incinerator in the basement, and generally turned the normally-quiet house upside down? The Mafioso's attorneys filed an appeal, which was sustained, thus forcing the incriminating loot to be returned to the boss's house.

A. Accardo ???????????

It could be...and it was.

A. Wilfred "Willy Boy" Johnson, a part-Cherokee Indian stool pigeon until 1985, when he was exposed.

Q. Which two mobsters, both in prison, ended up being tried, repeatedly, in what became one of the longest federal cases ever? The case was based largely on wiretaps.
Gotti and .... Armone?

Sorry to keep you waiting, I been away a few days. The answer is Jack "Legs" Diamond. He took lots of bullets in several attempts on his life but always amazed the doctors by pulling through. Until the last attempt in Albany when he took 3 to the head while asleep. He woke up dead.

John T. ``Legs'' Diamond. In his book ``O Albany!'' William Kennedy called Diamond ``the most visible, most maligned and most glamorous criminal in the East throughout the latter years of Prohibition, was Albany's preeminent underworld celebrity.'' The 34-year-old bootlegger, extortionist and international drug dealer died when he took three shots to the head Dec. 18, 1931. It happened in a boardinghouse at 67 Dove St. He had just been acquitted of kidnapping the driver of a rival bootleg truck. His killers were never caught.

Ricardo, if you're from Albany, you might want to check out William Kennedys other books set in Albany . There was a trilogy of Albany books, Legs, Ironweed, Billy Phaelens Greatest Game.
