John T. ``Legs'' Diamond. In his book ``O Albany!'' William Kennedy called Diamond ``the most visible, most maligned and most glamorous criminal in the East throughout the latter years of Prohibition, was Albany's preeminent underworld celebrity.'' The 34-year-old bootlegger, extortionist and international drug dealer died when he took three shots to the head Dec. 18, 1931. It happened in a boardinghouse at 67 Dove St. He had just been acquitted of kidnapping the driver of a rival bootleg truck. His killers were never caught.

Ricardo, if you're from Albany, you might want to check out William Kennedys other books set in Albany . There was a trilogy of Albany books, Legs, Ironweed, Billy Phaelens Greatest Game.[/QB][/quote]Sounds good, we're tlking Albany, Ny right.

I'm actually from Schenectady, next city over, but both citie still have vintage buildings built in the late 1800's, and early 1900's.

There's whole neighborhoods of buildings from the 20's and 30's.

I was cruising through the other, day and got that Robert eNiro Godfather 2, Fanucci feeling. lol.

If New York City is too expensive, theyshould have filmed here!

Rusty you are 100% correct, it was indeed Don Vito.

A. Don't know much at all about the good guys, the only old time FBI guy I can think of is Roemer the prolific "fiction" writer.

On the slim chance that my above answer is correct, here is a question.

Q. Which mob biggie was personally handed a get out of jail card by Richard M. Nixon?

A. Would this be late IBT president James R. Hoffa?

Not sure about Hoffa, I was thinking of Angelo "Gyp" DeCarlo.

In 1972, Richard Nixon arranged an unprecedented presidential pardon for New Jersey mobster, Angelo DeCarlo, a feared killer and capo in the Genovese crime family. It seemed that Nixon was paying back favours for more financial contributions to his re-election campaign.

That Hoffa wife Q will take some research.

A. Rusty, it took a lot of time and research to find this answer but I persevered. Josephine Hoffa died in 1980.

A#2. I know Sam Giancana hung out in Mexico for a while. If I'm correct I'll ask a question later this evening.

Q. Lansky's other son, Paul, went to West Point. What other mob boss had a son who went to West Point?

Buddy Lansky was the telephone operator at the motel.

A. We covered this topic a few pages back, Tommy Luchese was one and according to Rusty, Junior Gotti was another.

Q. What was the name of Sam Giancana's childhood street gang?

A Arthur Simon Flegenheimer. Too bad he couldn't be in the legit beer buisness . Either of his names would make a classic name for a beer, Schultz's or Flegenheimer's.

Q. What was Schultz backup plan for the end of prohibition?

It's been five days, so I'll answer my own question:
Richie (the Boot) Boioardo got his name because he did business out of a phone boot'.
Anyone care to post a question?

O.K. I'll pose a question. How's this one.

When did Paul Castellano(sp?) die? I want the exact day, year, month, and time. I also want to know where it took place.

Yeah I know that's probably to easy for some of you, or all of you but it's all I could think off.

A. She was Gloria Olarte, maid in his Staten Island home, from Colombia.
Q. (Tricky one, sorry:) Which Mafia don was reported by the cops and the press as having been arrested at the famous Apalachin convention but wasn't there--the guy who was arrested was his second in command. Who were they and what was the source of the confusion?

Hmm, i don't know the real name, but was it the guy that was DeNiro's Father in AnalyzeThis, escaped on tractor?

or was it Trafficante?

The flower shop where O'Bannion was assassinated was Schofield's, where he had an ownership interest.

A. Bugs Moran died in 1957 in prison of lung cancer which seems to be the second biggest cause of death for gangsters after lead poisoning.

Q. While in prison in the 40's, Sam Giancana befriended a black inmate who offered to cut Momo in on his buisness in exchange for Outfit protection. Giancana naturally double crossed him. What was his name and his business?
