I'm quite open to the fact that I admired Gravano until roughly 1990. Before then, an excellent business man. He was totally raking in the money. Unfortunately he was on the steroids but apart from that he understood the rules and played by them. Until his ratting out I can't think of many who would dislike him as an Underboss. After he rats out he turns into a tosser and I hate him now. His book tried to make himself into a hero and he had his chance at a fair life but messed that up with X along with his family. But whatdyagunnado?

He should never have ratted but at least he did it to someone like Gotti - a terrible boss. Gotti was going to prison sooner or later anyway. Gotti was just mouth. I've read and heard too many taps that just couldn't keep him a free man. One even asking whether Gravano wanted to be Underboss. This proves in a court of law that Gotti was head of the Gambino Crime Family then. He was going down one way or another. Don't get me wrong, Gravano should never have ratted. But it wasn't a hard thing for him to do after himself hearing taps of Gotti blaming more and more murders on Gravano.

So yes, I did like Gravano in his early days, very low key just what La Cosa Nostra needs. Not loud mouth attention seeking people like Gotti. Gotti should have been a film star not a LCN boss.

But now Gravano deserves all he gets now in prison....
