Hey Camillus -
I just read in Syracuse.com that the boys and girls from the high school there won the state finals in lacrosse. Is it a big deal there?

That is starting to be a norm here, and the Bands are State Champs as well, year after year....and as you all know Syracuse University are the national Champs in lacrosse... Sorry if it seems like bragging, but we are proud!

What a hypocrite he was eh! There was some compromising photos of him around and about and he had to do much of what he was told.

I read a book about him (and no, it didn't go into his lingerie collection ). Hoover was undoubtedly a friend of the mob, either knowingly or not. Up until the last couple of years of his life, he consistently denied the existence of the Mafia. What a pal! He was truly an odd bird, dresses notwithstanding. He had exhaustive files on everyone from Elvis to Bobby Kennedy. Naturally, anything tying him to something shady was destroyed by his loyal secretary (I think her name was Rose?). Definitely the epitome of a hypocrite.

I voted for Al Capone. Being in Chicago, his reputation, portrayed in film, etc. Nice poll by the way.

How could anyone not have voted for Capone. The man is legendary. Granted he probably was not the best leader of all time. I still have to give that either to Carlo Gambino or Lucky Luciano....Capone just seems to have that X factor that zips him to the top of any mob awareness list.

Exactly Joeybats. You say Chicago and who's on your mind nearly straight away. Same with gangster/prohibition........

Al Capone is the most famous gangster. Undisputible. I can go into the street shout his name and people would know him, even little kids. Can't say the same for many others.

So die all who betray Giuliano

even as a kid we all hear the name Al Capone. when we talk of gangsters, Al Capone first comes to mind. Luciano Pavarotti is more famous than Lucky Luciano . . .

You're exactly right JB about Al Capone. I also wouldn't say he's the best I still give that title to Anthony Accardo. But Al Capone is for sure the most famous.

It's nice to see that we all basically agree on who the most famous one is.
