Did someone as psycho as the character Tommy (played by Joe Pesci) actually exist? If so what was his real name? [QUOTE]

Tommy was based on two people in Goodfellas, Tommy DeSimone was one but I can't remember the other.

PS - I thought you knew everything on the mafia Joe Bonnano?

Check out "The Crime Library", when you get on the site click on "Gangsters,Outlaws and G-Men", when that site comes up scroll down to "The Lufthansa Heist", it's pretty interesting reading and gets into some of the "characters" in the event and names real names. I think it is a Courtv site.

Really? Karen, Henry, Jimmy, Paulie, Tommy, Tuddi, Spats Columbo, Billy Bats, Spider, the wig guy (I forgot his name sorry)? Everyone? I knew it was based on a true story but didn't know all the characters existed.

And by the way, was Tommy a psycho in real life? I suppose he was.

Check out the site that I mentioned in my last post if you want to read the true story about the case.

After you get on the section about the "Lufthansa Heist", on the left side of the site scroll down to "The end of Tommy DeSimone", it gets into the true story of what a real psycho he was and how,
at age 20, he killed Billy Batts and was later whacked by some of John Gotti's crew for it.

Nicholas Pileggi's book, "Wiseguy," is basically Henry Hill's biography. As far as I know, everyone in the movie was based on a real character. Only Henry and Karen kept their real-life names; the others had their names slightly changed for the film.
