Personally i love tailormade Corneliani suits, with Genteliomo shirts and Hermes tie's. But Armani suits will do fine aswell even as JOOP!, Zenga, Rufus, Canali and Trussardi.
Contrary to popular belief, Unix is userfriendly. It just happens to be selective about who it makes friends with.

If you buy "off the rack" fuhgeddaboudit unless a tailor does some serious tapering or "letting out". Don't go for too much flash in the suit; get something business-like but delete the ivy league ties and go for color w/ class. Flash up the shirts with distinctive collars and cufflinks but be sure the shirt arms are tailored to fit. Translation....this is like having another kid to put thru school...expensive.
Foolish consistencies are the hobgoblins of little minds.

The Sopranos guys get dressed up sometimes, when appropriate like Junior's installation as boss and when New York people like Johnny Sacks are over for dinner.
But a lot of them are active guys (I mean in terms of direct enforcement not fitness) and jogging suits and polos are a lot more practical.
There's still a dress code in the mob. I know it's going back a little, but remember how in Donnie Brasco - Lefty teaches Donnie how to dress.
I believe that the guys are expected to throw on at least a sports jacket and proper trousers in the evening.
After the excesses of Gotti - I imagine everyone's been told that a little restraint in the flash department is wise.
