I'd say yes. I know three people who's dads are (or were) in the New Jersey Mafia. One of their dads was killed in his home about three or four years ago. One of my friends respects the Mafia but doesn't want to join, but the other is really eager to graduate and see what's going to happen to him. But I think his dad is just connected, so he's not really going to be a boss or anything important. One thing they have in common is they say their dad's absolutely never talk about it. One of them found out from their mom, and the other one's dad admitted it once but never said a word about it afterwards.
Beside that, I don't think I have any chance of joining the Mafia since I'm only half Italian, hell, less than that actually cause my mom (the Italian parent) is also like 25% Spanish. So I'm mostly Spanish, and from all the racism I see in movies (and on OZ, that HBO show) I dont think the Mafia likes Cubans that much. I swear if a hood calls me a "*s.p.i.c. " I'd break his neck. And don't leave me in charge of narcotics distribution either.

So I can only wish I was in the Mafia, because admit it, right after you've seen Goodfellas or the Godfather, it doesnt seem like a bad idea, does it? Just never let your flaws get the best of you (Sonny's rage and Fredo's weak mind got them wacked) and cover your tracks (Henry Hill from Goodfellas' coke problem got him arrested). Try and outsmart your enemies and don't underestimate them, know them, know how they'd think and act; and don't trust all your friends.
If I did that a life in the Mafia would be la cosa for me. Killing, threatening, stealing, kidnapping, making decisions, planning, I'm down for it all.
