Probably the fact that my grandpa and uncle were great friends with Anthony Spilotro (Joe Pesci portrayed him under a new name, Nicky Santoro, for Scorsese's Casino). My Grandpa has pictures of him and everything, and says aside from his business, he was a really good guy. Unfortunately, he got buried alive in an Indiana cornfield in the mid 80s.

After my Grandpa told me about all this, I really started getting into mob movies and viewed The Godfather Trilogy (I'd seen them before, but I was too small to remember) and then proceeded to view all the other great mobster movies (GoodFellas, Scarface, The Untouchables, Casino). Now I love em all! And coming from a Sicilian family makes me appreciate them more, I guess.
