Wasn't there a Jewish guy that was a big wheel with the mob in California. Mickey Cohen, maybe?
EDIT: I looked up Mickey Cohen on the 'Net. That's my guess.

Q: What mobster left the east to start a gambling haven in Hot Springs, Arkansas and what is he more well known for? You're right, Don Tissinno--I meant Covington, not Lexington. My error. Owney Madden, NYC beer baron and proprietor of the Cotton Club, left NYC after Prohibition to pursue gambling in Hot Springs. My earlier question still stands: Who succeeded Dion O'Banion as leader of Chicago's Northside gang (wasn't Bugs Moran, it was the guy before him)?

Q: Who managed to get Paul Ricca out of jail after 3 years when he was supposed to have served 10? He was not a member of the Outfit.

A complicated story, but: Ricca got 10 years for extortion. He also had tax evasion and mail fraud cases pending against him, which prevented him from being paroled. Eugene Bernstein, a tax lawyer, arranged to pay off the tax debt, so that case was dropped. Then Paul Dillon, a Missouri lawyer who was tight with the Kansas City Pendergast machine that sponsored Harry Truman's career, arranged for the mail fraud case to be dismissed (supposedly by promising Truman's Attorney General, Tom Clark, that he'd be named to a Supreme Court seat). Then Dillon supposedly arranged for the parole board to spring Ricca.
New question: Ricca's extortion conviction stemmed from Mob domination of the Movie Projectionists' Union. Which gangster was the original corrupter of that union (hint: New Yorker)?

Good, but Tom Clarke would have done!
I believe Ricca took control from some unions previously controlled by New York families so I wud say Luciano? Do I deserve to ask another question?!

Thanks Turnbull! Here's an easy one though (coz I don't think I deserve one after not being specific enough on the last Q!)
Q: What famous mobsters death was strikingly reminiscent of the murder of one Moe Green in Godfather I?

Turnbull: sorry, wrong!
Although Moe greens character was undoubtably based on 'Benny', the question was about his death. Benny died in his home whereas Albert Anastasia was murdered in a barbershop. I suppose it was a kinda trick Q when u think about it!
MB: The only two gangsters I know who ever used baseball bats were Al Capone and 'Joe Batters' himself. Was it any of these?

Fair enough but it wasn't just one shot to the eye like in GF I, it was about 5 shots with one just happening to blow that portion of his face off! I guess I should have mentioned the setting of the murder but that would have given it away I think! Haven't got a clue about the baseball gangster but that story does seem vaguely familiar! Turnbull........?!

A: Well there are the obvious two feared Sicillian assasins - Anselmi and Scalise and there was the less known Joseph Guinta. Al killed them after realising they were conspiring against him.
Q: For what two Outfit bosses did "Mooney" Giancana start his career off by being their driver?
