Do you know of any movies where the Godfather movie was mentioned-directly or indirectly. Funny I cant remember any movie, just The Sopranos of course. They mention it a lot in The Sopranos, but hey...Uncle Junior is JOHNNY OLA ! Any other movies/series?

I don't think The Freshman is a bad film at all, and Brando's reprisal of his role as Don Corleone should make it a "must see" for all GF fans.
Broderick plays an NYU film student, who just happens to be studying Godfather II. There's a memorable scene in which Broderick is in his film class, and the professor is showing the class the boathouse scene between Michael and Geary.
As the scene plays for the class, the professor is shown mouthing the words of the dialogue, along with the characters on screen.
There's another great scene in which Brando is shown buying fruit from a neighborhood stand. His costume and the set bear an uncanny resemblance to the scene in GF when Don C. is about to be shot.
The film also features Bruno (Young Clemenza) Kirby, and a cameo by Gianni (Carlo Rizzi) Russo.

In Arizona Dream theres Paul (Vincet Gallo) watching TV, when The Godfather is on, he starts to quote Michael and Fredo in the boathouse scene, even faster than the real characters hehe...nice scene.... And I know besides those movies which are mentioned about a few Soaps where the Godfather was mentioned/referred to. In "Gilmore Girls" (many many references, My sis told me ), Friends, King Of Queens, The Nanny (she wakes up and sees a horse head next to her ), most of them with the"Ill make him an offer he cant refuse" quote... Im currently collecting clips for a home-made-DVD in which Pacino is mentioned....

Seinfeld's "The Bris", where Jerry and Elaine are nervous about being godparents. Jerry is "OUT" as godfather and Kramer is "IN". The show ends with the parents kissing Kramer's hand as the door on Kramer's apartment is shut ... a la GF1.
Also, Married With Children's "The Godfather" where Al becomes the neighborhood godfather when Kelly starts dating a local councilman. Al takes on the personna of Don Vito Corleone.
Al: (In a Marlon Brando voice) "Don't ask me about my business, Peg!" Al: (In a Marlon Brando voice) "One day I will ask of a favor. Now this day may never come... (normal voice) But we both know it probably will!"
Very funny!

The Godfather was spoofed on "Second City TV" . . . . Also my favorite send up of The Godfather, is Billy Crystal's "City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold". Jon Lovitz, playing Billy Crystal's wayward brother, quotes, to the amazement of Daniel Stern's character the "This is the Business we've chosen" scene. Later, in the caves, they hum The Godfather Theme. If you've never seen this movie, then you must go out and rent it ! The first movie, City Slicker, is very funny also. Ya Gotta See It ! !

Wasn't there an episode of The Simpsons with James Caan where Sonny's assassination at the toll booths was recreated? I seem to have a memory of it.
Also, while not exactly in the same vein as what we're discussing, Zero Mostel did a turn as a Mafia Don (as well as the President of the United States) in the little-seen 1975 comedy Foreplay.

"Sure I cook with wine - sometimes I even add it to the food!"
"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?"
"It was a grass harp... And we listened."
"Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? Every, every minute?"
"No. Saints and poets, maybe... they do some."

I noticed another Simpsons reference last weekend. In the 3rd or 4th season, Homer buys Lisa a pony to win back her affection. When Lisa wakes up in her bed in the next morning, the music playing is the same as when Woltz wakes up in his bed . Lisa notices something in her bed, then pulls off the covers revealing the the pony in bed next to her. She then lets out a horrified scream. Hilarious.

In an episode of the TV series "Las Vegas" Ed Deline ( played by James Caan ) is shooting a commercial for the Hotel. But he just doesn't like doing it and feels stupid with his lines. So the director pulls Caan over to the side and tells him that he needs to speak to the audience and says to him "Speak with authority, the way Sonny spoke to his brother in that scene from The Godfather." And Caan replies to him "I've never seen The Godfather." And the director says " You're kidding? That movie is a classic." And Caan has this dumbfounded and confused look on his face. The later on in the same episode, the director for the commercial shoot has his hand over Caan's wife's hand and is gently rubbing it. Caan is getting really pissed and finally says to the director " You touch my wife again, and I'll kill ya!" An obvious referenece to his line in GF when he tells Carlo "you touch my sister again, and I'll kill ya." Don Cardi

That's a line from The Godfather?? I thought you just said that to the waither because you were protecting me! SB : (flinging the dish at the waiter) "Hey, what the hell is this? Frozen cheesecake? Waiter : "Now clean it up! You spoiled guinea brat!" Actually, what I said to the waiter was "Hey? Who the hell do you think you're talking to like that? If you raise your voice to my sister again, I'll kill ya!" I sort of paraphrased Sonny's line. Boy, between you, Mama Mig and DMC, I'm never going to live that one down, huh? Don Cardi
