If I recall correctly, Francis Ford Coppola wrote the scripts for The Godfather trilogy, and he is still alive.

Ive been super busy lately so I have had no time to write, or come here, or anything like that, but as I might have said earlier, I was really struggling to come up with an ending, since all three others have such brilliant endings. This is one idea that I've had:
Black Screen. Godfather theme song begins to play. “The Godfather Part IV” appears in white lettering. As it begins to fade away, we hear a bell ringing. Fade up to a funeral in a graveyard. The wind whips through the small crowd’s hair. Cut to close up of the crowd’s faces. They are: Kay, Anthony, Vincent, Neri and Hagen’s son. They all have a forlorn look on their faces, but no one is crying. Kay, especially, looks sad, but mostly indifferent. Cut to a medium shot. The coffin is visible. A priest stands at the head (in the way of the tombstone.) He says whatever needs to be said. There are significantly less flowers on the coffin then there was at Vito’s funeral, and significantly less mourners. The group turns and walks away slowly. Cut to Kay, still standing looking at the coffin. Fade to a 1930’s New York skyline. White letters come up New York City, 1934. Cut to Genco Olive Oil Imports building. Cut to Vito and Genco in a room, speaking Sicilian, going over papers and things. Clemenza comes into the room........(I think I've posted this first scene here).......... ........(I dont know If Ive posted this scene, but what it entails is Mike telling Vito that he doesnt want to join the family business.).... MIKE: ...I will always be a Corleone, but I will never be an olive oil importer. (Camera zooms up on Michael’s face, the GF theme some starts to play. Fade to Kay’s face, from a high angle, staring down, distressed, but not crying, from the Funeral: KAY: Goodbye Michael. (She turns and rejoins the group of men. Black Screen. GF Theme, End Credits roll.)
I came up with this idea because, (I hope) it will seal up the series so that a GF5, 6, 7, etc cannot be made, and it would show the final diffrences between Vito and Mike. Comments are welcome.

Some good stuff there DSC, but I think you ned a little more originality in your plot. All you've really done for the most part is adapt parts of the book (Not that there's anything wrong with that). Originally posted by Don Sonny Corleone: MIKE: ...I will always be a Corleone, but I will never be an olive oil importer. Sound exactly like what Anthony said to Michael in GF III. I will always be your son. But I will never have anything to do with your business.

Oh what a shame, a good script goes to waste. Not necessarily. Just because he doesn't post on here anymore, that doesn't mean his script is wasted. Are you saying we should add to it?

I've been trying to come up with a "The Godfather, Part IV" script for some time. My idea was that Vincent has now moved all operations to New York and wants a piece of the action of Atlantic City gambling. The retiring Don of Philadelphia agrees to sell his Casinos to Vincent, this angers the young Underboss in Philadelphia hoping to inherit those casinos. Don Stracci, very concerned that the Corleones would take over Atlantic City makes a deal with the Philly Underboss to kill the retiring Don before the deal is complete....that's all I got so far.

I like your idea Bduff. I had thought of something similar but it would also include a move into narcotics. Something similar to the pizza connection. Unlike most people I think there are a few ways this story could go or we could incorporate quite a few different elements. the takeover of Atlantic City, the pizza connection and zips, also betrayal and attempted takeover by either of Connie's sons or Vincent's other brothers.

HAGEN- His name is Paulie...he's also known as "The Jerk" Is operates a meat storage place in Philly, sells it to middlemen who make sure it gets to the right restaurants. A good porterhouse can bring two three hundred dollars retail, and a badone can put an owner out of business. He's connected to an enforcer on the docks whi in turn is connected to a club fighter named Rocky. Now if we make this deal, our people in the boxing business can see to it that this fighter gets a shot at the title. The odds of him going the distance with Creed are 300-1. We'll make a fortune on that alone. Creed will keep the title on a controversial split decision, and that will lead to at least one more fight with Creed which this Rocky wins.
Vito - What do you think?
Hagen - I say yes. Good steak joints are springing up all the time an there's big money in sports betting. Not now, but five years from now when they develop computerized sports books in Vegas.
Vito - Santino?
Sonny - There's a lot of money in those juicy red sirloins.
