I was wondering why the higher ups in the Soprano family seem to go around by themselves, without much worry of getting attacked.

In a lot of other mob movies, it seems like the important people in the families always have some kind of protection, like a bodyguard or travel in groups.

Is it because they generally stay on "safe turf"?

Or is it not a very accurate depiction of real gangsters?

My wife and I argue about this all the time.

Any opinions on the subject?

Happy Holidays Everyone!

my opinion on it is because all the bosses in the area seem to be real close friends so theres not much worry even if there are threats tossed around generally they settle it before anyone gets attacked.

Ive noticed that in the Sopranos escpecilly, it might be that they are on safe turf,no one will touch them.

A lot of times Tony has people drive him around. Usually Christopher, or, when he was around, Furio. In the first season, right before the hit attempt, Tony and Chris argue about this a little and Christopher says something about how he's supposed to be driving Tony around.
