But considering that the vast majority of Americans use DVD's, and not HD-TV or HD-DVD/Blu-Ray this early in the format war, it will not matter because that price is geared towards early adopters. By the time one of the formats "wins," the price of the players will have dropped considerably. See the transition from VHS to DVD's in the late 90's.

Apparently this was announced last week, but I just read it today. And now my heart is aching.

GTA IV Delayed Until Spring 2008

This just in... Take-Two has announced that Grand Theft Auto IV is being delayed until Spring of 2008 due to "additional development time required to complete the title." Read on for further explanations that came with today's announcement as well as links to stories related to this news.

"With Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is setting a new standard for next generation video games," stated Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two. "Certain elements of development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms. We all recognize that perfecting the game is vital and I can assure everyone it will be worth the wait. We owe it to the game's millions of fans, to our dedicated development team, and to our shareholders to make sure that Grand Theft Auto IV is a groundbreaking gaming experience that takes maximum advantage of next generation technology."

"The new consoles are allowing us to create the Grand Theft Auto game we always dreamed about," added Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. "Every aspect of the game and its design has been completely transformed. The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. I guess it's a good thing that Rockstar wants to take more time to make sure the game is as great as possible...but it's still disappointing. I was looking forward to picking it up this October.

Rumors have been flying that it is because of the PS3 that the delay occurred. But on the plus side, there is also a HUGE rumor from a reliable source that Sony is making a move to acquire majority control of Rockstar, which means that GTA would be an exclusive Sony franchise once again...

I would definitely think that instead of pissing off Microsoft by having the versions of the game released when they are ready, R* is showing a bit of favoritism towards Sony by keeping GTA under lock and key until the PS3 version is ready.

The good news I've heard? Starting next year, EA is building all of their next-gen titles based off the PS3, rather than porting from the X-Box 360 and having delays for PS3 versions, which will be a nice change.

I think that is unlikely. Knowing Microsoft they would go all out price war if that happend. But if does happen, its good news as i like PS over Xbox

Its still hard to believe. But if GTA comes to sony exclusivly bye bye X Box.

Thank GOD Sony and Immersion finally came to an agreement on rumble support for the PS3.

My only concern is how long a full charge will last on the controller. A full charge WITHOUT rumble is usually good for 3 to 4 days (if you play regularly.) I can't imagine the toll that the rumble will take on the charge.

I brought MY PS3 (60GB), Its all good. I got a good deal IMO. 3 games (RFOM, Fifa 08 and F1) and an extra controller for £394.

Cant wait for MGS4, GT4, gta4, Resident evil 5, mafia 2 and Godfather part 2.

I think the PS3 was worth it, definitly with the up comming games.

PS - the controller is crap and feels realy cheap - the dualshock 3 controller is a must buy, which should come out in march.

BTW - I'm definitely looking into the "Buy 2 get 1 free" sale at Toys 'R Us this week, I'm thinking about picking up some new PS3 games.

Most likely, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, and either Splinter Cell: Double Agent or Ghost Recon 2.

That's not a bad deal at all. I might have to look into it.

I played a demo of Folklore...and it's pretty sweet. It's a drastically different take on the adventure/RPG formula. I can't vouch for the final game, but it may be worth a look.

Heavenly Sword is an AWESOME game...but you can beat it in a day.

I've already vouched for GRAW 2. DEFINITELY pick that one up.

I had considered SC: Double Agent for PS3...but I didn't get it because I have it for my PS2. I know the PS3 version is different (different missions), but its the same basic story, so it's hard for me to justify a $60 purchase.

I pre-ordered Assassin's Creed a week or so ago. I traded in a bunch of old PS2 games, and it paid for itself.

The game looks absolutely awesome. I can't wait for it to come out.
